The Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) Sustainability Guidelines for Staff are offered as open access materials to widen engagement of health workers in the sustainability movement. The guidelines support awareness raising of health workers, provide practical tips and stimulate a culture to champion and innovate solutions for sustainability in healthcare. The guidelines recognize that developing low-carbon and sustainable healthcare services requires the involvement of all staff, at every level. Attention is also drawn to the co-benefits of actions which include saving precious natural resources, lowering the costs of health care, and enhanced institutional reputation and staff motivation.
