Your privacy on the Internet is of utmost importance to the ATACH. This privacy policy relates to:

3. Collection and use of your information
a. Any information about you as an individual which we collect from the Website will be used in accordance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable laws.
b. We process your data based on legitimate interests of the ATACH, including:

The necessity to deliver on the purpose, functions and activities of the ATACH, which are collectively established by the ATACH members and the broader climate and health global community.

Our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Website, including optimally meeting user needs and enhancing user experience.
3.1 Collection of personally identifiable information
a. Personal details about you as an individual are collected when you fill out forms on the Website and exchange emails with us or any of our personnel. These details may include your name, institution/organization, email address, job title, country, etc. This information is collected only with your knowledge and permission. This information is stored in ATACH databases and mailing lists hosted on encrypted cloud storage platforms such as Sharepoint and Campaign Monitor following high security standards. b. Only with your consent, the information you provide to us can be used to send you emails, including answers to your queries, newsletters and updates from the ATACH. When you opt-in to receive email updates from the ATACH, your preferences and use of email updates will be recorded and stored as part of your personal data as outlined above.
You can request your information at any time by clicking the link in the newsletter confirmation email. The option to unsubscribe will be included in every newsletter you receive. You may also request to view and/or delete your information by writing to atach@who.int.
3.2 Normal website usage
a. In general, you can browse the Website without revealing any personal information about yourself. The only information gathered during general browsing is from standard server logs. The Website employs Google Analytics 4, which collects traffic data helping us discern usage patterns to enhance our website’s user experience. This version handles limited personal data, including device type, access dates and times, page titles, URLs visited, files downloaded, other websites which referred you to our website, as well as user country, region, and city. You may opt out of this tracking at any time by activating the “Do Not Track” setting in your browser.
3.3 Embedded content from other websites
a. Website pages may include embedded content (e.g. videos, maps, charts, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor had visited the other website.
b. Embedded websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
4. Sharing of your information
The ATACH does not sell, share or otherwise disclose any users’ personal information or information about individual use of the website to third parties, except that:
a. We may need to disclose such information to entities and individuals who ATACH employs or collaborates with to perform its functions. This may be for purposes such as website hosting, processing and sorting data, monitoring website usage and organizing activities of the ATACH (e.g. meetings and online discussions). These entities and individuals will have access to users’ personal information solely as necessary to perform ATACH functions and purposes they have been designated for. For these purposes, your details may be transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and you consent to such transfer by using the Website.
b. The ATACH may share some user information with select ATACH members and collaborators based on established data sharing agreements, to which users expressly consent when providing information included in these agreements. This includes the information provided in forms to access some resources on the ATACH resource repository. For the purpose of monitoring use and improving resources, user information is shared with organizations which published specific resources, namely:
- User information provided in the form to download the Climate Impact Checkup Tool is shared with administrators of the tool in Health Care Without Harm. For any questions, please contact: checkup@hcwh.org.
- User information provided in the form to download the AKDN Carbon Management Tool is shared with administrators of the tool in the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). For any questions, please contact: healthcarbonfootprint@akdn.org.
c. The ATACH may share users’ personal information with the WHO as part of its Secretariat function to the ATACH.
d. The ATACH may share information when required or permitted to do so by law.
5. Cookies
a. We will not use your IP address to identify you and your personal information in any way.
b. Cookies may be used by the Website to allow us to recognize you and your preferred settings e.g. to store your login ID and password for future sessions. This saves you from re-entering information on return visits to the Website. You have the option not to use this feature, in which event no cookies will be retained on your computer.
c. Our Website has a secure log-in for registered users, and may use a temporary ’session cookie’ in order to perform the secure login. This cookie contains no personal information, just a long random number, and is deleted from your web browser when you exit the Website.
d. Your browser may be capable of being programmed to reject cookies, or to warn you before downloading cookies, and information regarding this may be found in your browser’s ‘help’ facility.

We use third party companies as suppliers for some of our functions. Their use of the data is controlled by our contract with them and they are only allowed to use the data strictly for the purpose we have stated e.g. the data is not used in connection with data from other companies and we are not tracking user behavior outside our own sites.

If you have provided some of your data through our Website or other communications with the ATACH, under GDPR, you have the right to:

Third party providers or collaborators of the ATACH are responsible for the data held by or shared with them, and ATACH does not assume any responsibility for data privacy and management performed by third parties.
