ATACH Day and Health Events at COP29
The 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), taking place from 11 to 22 November 2024 in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan, is a critical moment uniting the world for climate action.
Following the growing international recognition of the health impacts of climate change and the global momentum to address these, COP29 provides multiple opportunities for world leaders to address the critical nexus of climate and health. The Human Development Day on 18 November 2024 will have a key focus on health as part of other related topics, building on the outcomes of the first Health Day held at COP28 in 2023.
COP29 Health Pavilion and ATACH Day
In addition, the World Health Organization is hosting a Health Pavilion to bring together key global actors for climate change and health in a programme of events throughout the week. The Health Pavilion at COP29 will offer a rich two-week programme of events showcasing evidence, initiatives and solutions to maximize the health benefits of tackling climate change across regions, sectors and communities. Visit the COP29 Health Pavilion page.
The COP29 ATACH Day on 19 November at the Health Pavilion will bring together key constituencies and stakeholders in climate change and health around reflections and discussions on the desired future for action on climate resilient and low carbon sustainable health systems, and how it can be achieved. The Day will be structured around key topics which will allow us to explore the vision, opportunities, lessons learned, and the overall way forward to implement the “future we want” for climate and health. The programme will run from 9:00 - 18:15 (GMT+4 Baku time), followed by a networking opportunity with the ATACH community from 18:15 - 19:15 (GMT+4, Baku time). While the event will take place in-person, it will be livestreamed to the international community on the COP29 Health Pavilion Page. View more details about ATACH Day.
