Healthcare supply chains produce and get medicine, vaccines, medical devices and other health related products where they need to go all around the world. Due to the globalized nature of the industries involved, these supply chains are often vulnerable to climate disruptions, impacting health systems everywhere. They are also, paradoxically, responsible for more than 80% of health care's significant carbon footprint. The paper lays out six key strategies for health care supply chains to build climate resilience and greater health equity by anticipating and adapting to climate disruptions while simultaneously decarbonizing. The six strategies focus on product innovation, manufacturing, logistics, procurement, regulation and finance.
