This resource provides an overview of how greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are being measured in Canada’s healthcare system and information on the current state of GHG emissions estimation in the country. It also provides guidance and tools to support health systems and care organizations to start, continue, or expand GHG emissions estimation.
While the tools and guidance provided are primarily aimed at Canadian health care organizations, they can serve as valuable examples for other settings that are beginning their own estimation of healthcare emissions.
Intended users:
Health care facility managers in Canada working on GHG assessment and mitigation plans. Ministry of Health and health professionals and health managers in other countries to understand the Canadian experience and adapt to their own context.
