The Compendium of WHO and other UN guidance on health and environment, Chapter 7. Climate Change aims to support the integration of climate considerations into policies, improving preparedness, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and safeguarding population health in a changing climate. It provides an overview of how climate change affects health globally and highlights the main WHO and UN guidance on actions for mitigation and adaptation relevant to health. Key actions include strengthening governance, building climate‑resilient and low‑carbon health systems, improving surveillance and early warning, enhancing health workforce capacity, and adapting infrastructure, technologies and supply chains. The Compendium Chapter also outlines recommended measures for heat–health action, climate‑resilient WASH services, food system adaptation and cross‑sectoral collaboration.
