Categories: GHG emissions baseline assessments, Action Plans for sustainable low carbon health systems

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical organisation present in more than 70 countries. They work in some of the most climate-vulnerable settings, responding to many of the world’s most urgent crises – conflict, natural disasters, disease outbreaks, and displacement. A significant proportion of the health problems MSF responds to are climate-sensitive and they are treating patients experiencing the health impacts of the climate emergency first-hand.
In addition to responding to climate-related health emergencies, MSF communicates about the negative health impacts and advocates for more support to the world’s most vulnerable communities - who by far are the most affected.
MSF has committed to reduce their environmental footprint in line with the Paris Agreement and have developed decarbonisation roadmaps which they are implementing across all our countries of operations.
Supporting the following commitments:
- Commitment 5: Deliver a baseline assessment of greenhouse gas emissions of the health system (including supply chains).
- Commitment 6: Develop an action plan or roadmap by a set date to develop a sustainable low carbon health system (including supply chains).
Country experience:
MSF has implemented work related to commitments 5 and 6 across all countries in which they operate.
