Waste and WASH actions for low-carbon, sustainable and resilient health care facilities
Online
photo credit: © WHO / Bart Verweij The Technical Meeting, co-organized by Health Care Without Harm and WHO on waste and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) actions for low-carbon, sustainable and resilient health care facilities, is a part of the series of clinics that are aimed to provide practical action planning support for health systems striving towards low-carbon sustainability. This Technical Meeting is particularly aimed at colleagues working in National Health Systems and Ministries and will provide a practical introduction to action planning for low-carbon sustainability in waste and WASH for health facilities and additional opportunities for countries/areas to learn from their peers.
The purpose of this Technical Meeting is to:
- Increase knowledge and understanding of the WHO guidance for climate resilient and environmentally sustainable health care facilities, particularly in relation to the water, sanitation, hygiene and health care waste component
- Learn from ATACH member countries on actions that have already been to decarbonize, increase resilience, and/or sustainability – and how they are measuring gains
- Share challenges and lessons learned – and what additional guidance might be needed in the near future to support low-carbon, environmentally friendly and climate-resilient waste and WASH in health care facilities.
This meeting will be held in 2 sessions featuring the same contents, to accommodate multiple time-zones. The content of each session will be similiar so it will only be neccessary to attend one session.
