How can countries and subnationals test the Belém Adaptation Indicators to strengthen climate adaptation planning, implementation, and reporting?
Join this global webinar to hear firsthand experiences from countries and international partners that are already piloting the indicators and exploring how they can support National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs), adaptation monitoring systems, and climate finance frameworks.
The discussion will bring together representatives from the UNFCCC, the COP30 Presidency, national and subnational governments, multilateral organizations, and technical experts to exchange emerging practices and implementation pathways.

Context
The global adaptation landscape is undergoing a critical shift from a primary focus on planning toward implementation, results, and measurable progress. A major milestone in this transition was the decision at COP30 to adopt a set of 59 voluntary, country-driven, and non-prescriptive Belém Adaptation Indicators (BAI) to support tracking progress toward the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA). These indicators represent an important step toward operationalizing the GGA and strengthening the global framework for monitoring adaptation outcomes.
Despite this progress, significant practical challenges remain. Many countries are still navigating how to translate global targets into national contexts, select and tailor relevant indicators, establish baselines, and integrate GGA-related metrics into existing planning, monitoring, and reporting systems. Addressing these challenges requires hands-on, country-led testing of the framework to identify workable approaches, uncover implementation barriers, and build a shared understanding of good practices.
This webinar responds directly to that need by offering a platform for countries and partners to showcase their experiences in testing and applying the GGA framework within the context of National Adaptation Plans (NAPs). It will foster peer learning across regions, highlight emerging practices and lessons learned, and contribute to ongoing global efforts to refine the GGA framework and support its effective and coherent implementation.
Objectives
The primary objective of this webinar is to promote an interactive global forum for countries to share pilot initiatives and initial findings on BAI implementation by:
● Showcasing practical experiences and lessons learned from early movers in testing the 59 Belém Adaptation Indicators.
● Facilitating practical understanding of how to align national adaptation efforts with the GGA framework to ensure measurable resilience outcomes.
● Exploring the integration of the Belem Adaptation Indicators into National Adaptation Plans.
