Three New Resources for Climate-Resilient Health Systems

This May, June, the World Bank is launching a suite of complementary resources to support country teams and government counterparts embed climate-health action across the full health operational cycle. Together, these three resources support action from risk identification to implementation guidance, to peer-generated country interventions, offering an integrated toolkit for building climate-resilient health systems.

SCREEN: May 28, 14:00 CEST / 8:00 EDT

A rigorous, upstream screening tool covering 185 economies and over 3,000 subnational areas, the Climate and Health Risk Index (CHRI) details how climate-health risk shifts across geography and over time, helping countries identify where risk is greatest, screen areas for deeper assessment, and inform allocation of adaptation and resilience resources more effectively.

IMPLEMENT: June 2, 14:00 CEST / 8:00 EDT

A curated suite of implementation resources to facilitate maximizing climate interventions into health action, the Climate Health Implementation Manual (CHIM) brings together over 90 evidence-based interventions and 250 tools across governance, data integration, human resources, procurement, and waste management, strengthening facilities, supply chains, workforce planning, and data systems to adapt to climate risks and reduce emissions.

LEARN: June 4, 14:00 CEST / 8:00 EDT

A suite of six resources co-created by over 21 countries, the Joint Learning Network – Climate Smart Health Systems (JLN-CSHS) Collaborative - Year one Knowledge Products span governance, financing, data integration, and health facility and health worker resilience. The resources, developed bycountries to fit their unique contexts, demonstrate in practice what country-led co-produced low carbon climate-resilient health systems can look like.
