e-Course on Developing Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Healthcare

The eCourse on Developing Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Healthcare is a 4-month online certificate programme (6 modules, 18 credits) tailored for health and allied health professionals. The course introduces participants to the principles and practices of environmentally sustainable healthcare, with an emphasis on reducing the sector’s ecological footprint while enhancing the resilience of health systems. It offers a blend of conceptual understanding and practical approaches to integrate sustainability into healthcare delivery.

Course Description and Introduction

Healthcare facilities are both frontline responders to climate change and contributors to it through greenhouse gas emissions and waste. This course equips professionals to apply sustainable, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective practices in healthcare operations. Participants will learn to:

• Understand impacts of climate change on health.
• Navigate policies and guidelines.
• Apply sustainability measures in healthcare.
• Use data-driven strategies to improve resilience.
• Develop sustainability and resilience plans for facilities.

 

This course is organized by the Indian Institute of Public Health Bhubaneswar (IIPHB) in collaboration with PHFI Centre for Environmental Health (PHFI CEH), with additional collaboration from the Health and Environment Leadership Platform (An initiative of Public Health Foundation of India and Healthcare Without Harm). 

Course fees are scaled based on where the student is based.
